High School Musical 3 Press Conference

The cast of High School Musical 3: Senior Year participates in the start-of-production press conference at East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday.

Who showed up? Director Kenny Ortega, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu.

Principal photography will kick off tomorrow, May 3. The all-new HSM3 feature film will be shot on location in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is set for release in theaters October 24, 2008. High School Musical 3: Senior Year finds high school seniors Troy and Gabriella facing the prospect of separation as they head off to different colleges. Joined by the rest of the Wildcats, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about the future. With incredible new music and exciting dance numbers designed to take maximum advantage of the big screen, this motion picture extravaganza delivers plenty of high-energy entertainment from East High’s talented ensemble

Filming of new "High School Musical" starts Saturday

The word "action" will kick-start the new High School Musical sequel as the cast and crew of the hit Disney Channel franchise starts filming Saturday at East High School in Salt Lake City. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu have reassembled with the rest of the cast and three new cast members for High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which will be filmed mostly at the school as well as other Salt Lake County locations. This time, the film is scheduled to open in theaters on Oct. 24 instead of on television. In the new movie, which will be co-choreographed by Salt Lake City's Bonny Story, who works for Odyssey Dance Theatre, the Wildcats of East High will be graduating. That leaves lovebirds Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) worrying about their relationship when each goes off to a different college. The movie will be shot in about 40 days, nearly twice the number of filming days devoted to the first two films, and use the same Salt Lake City-based crew. Kenny Ortega, who directed the first two films as well as the Opening Ceremony for the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Games, again helms the project.

Zanessa’s Saturday Sing-a-long

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are hard at work on the Utah set of High School Musical 3: Senior Year at East High School on Saturday.

Talk about overtime–they’re working weekends!

Ashley Tisdale was also seen on set carrying around her pet pooch, Maui, and a Louis Vuitton dog carrier.

The Kenny Ortega-directed film has a tentative nationwide release date of Friday, October 24.

Zac Efron shows off his washboard abs in a shirtless moment on the set of High School Musical 3 at a top secret location in Utah on Friday.

Girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens was not far behind showing off some leopard-print undergarment. Zac was also seen wearing a Wildcats (ROAR!) basketball uniform, carrying a Nordstrom shopping bag and a stick (presumably for stick ball).

Per usual, Zanessa was spotted holding hands. Everybody now… Awww!

Lachey to host `High School Musical' reality show

NEW YORK (AP) - Nick Lachey is going back to high school, musically.

The 34-year-old singer has signed on to host the upcoming ABC reality show "High School Musical: Summer Session," inspired by the Disney Channel phenomenon costarring Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens, ABC said this week.

The program debuts July 20, and will air Sundays and Mondays for three weeks before settling into a Monday timeslot.

The competition will heat up as finalists participate in a summer music program: one winner will "receive the opportunity of a lifetime, becoming a part of `High School Musical' history," according to ABC.

Just what that entails — quality time with Efron? — hasn't been announced yet. The champ will be named in mid-September.

Open casting calls for "High School Musical: Summer Session" will take place Sunday at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, Calif., and May 7 at Champion Stadium at Disney's Wide Worlds of Sports Complex in Orlanda, Fla. The age range for contestants is 16 through 22.

The audition process will be featured in early episodes of the show, ABC said.

High School Musical 3 — Zanessa Edition!

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens work up a sweat at a dance rehearsal for the upcoming feature film, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, at a hush-hush location in Utah on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Looks like Zanessa’s still going strong, folks! How cute is Vanessa passing Zac a set of car keys behind her back???

Also spotted on set was Vanessa’s 22-year-old BFF Ashley Tisdale, who wore a “I Love Pink” shirt. Vanessa, 19, was also seen wearing “Eighty Sixers” sweats and carrying a UPS box with an envelope sticking out with her name on it. Zac, 20, was spotted holding a box of Nike sneakers.

HSM3 has a tentative release date of Friday, October 24.
